Andrius Spangelevičius, our Ro-Ro and General Cargo Terminal Manager, says that 2023 was characterised by process efficiency and quality improvement.

Although this year's general cargo handling was slightly lower than last year, the focus at our terminal was on process efficiency and quality improvement, responding to customer needs. "Naturally, we have intuitively set ourselves goals: even faster, even more flexible, even better quality. Because only by fulfilling these factors could we win the trust of new customers and retain the trust of old ones", says the terminal manager.

A major milestone in our operations came at the beginning of the summer when our ferry partner TT-Line opened a new route to Karlshamn. Since the opening of this route, we have been operating 7 ferry services per week. According to Andrius Spangelevičius, although he has many years of experience working with the ferry line, it was necessary to re-examine the joint teamwork and manage the challenges in the processes in order to re-establish a common synergy.

Although our team performs hundreds of different handling operations every day, it was what was new that grew us the most as professionals. "This year, we carried out the flipping of 57-tonne coils from horizontal to vertical before transport. We prepared properly for the unique process, so we worked in synchrony and the non-routine task was completed smoothly," shares the manager.

According to Spangelevičius, this year we have noticed that our customers particularly appreciate the live meetings, where they get to know the equipment we have and operate in the terminal "here and now", see how the loading process works up close, and get answers to their questions promptly. "At our terminal, efficient handling is not just about unloading or loading cargo into a vehicle, but about systematically sorting, packing, storing, correctly accounting for and documenting the cargo, and being flexible to our customers' expectations," Andrius concludes.
